Maiolica

I have been painting longer than anything else, and it has to be because of the process. I love all aspects of preparing the canvas, sitting it on the easel, turning on the music, and beginning. By picking up paint on the end of my brush I am amazed how it feels getting started again, on another adventure into the places I love so much. I in the past three years have been incorporating mini pastels into my acrylics and going for more of a feeling rather than a realistic landscape. It's the colors and shapes that give way to these places and you hopefully feel the energy of the place rather than having it spelled out for you. This new direction is a bit more freeing and I enjoy that. A painting in the end will hopefully give the viewer a place to go and escape to, or evoke a memory from the past. So it is with great pleasure that I paint these places & figures and I hope they bring as much joy to the viewer as they do for me as I create them.
