Summer Camp 2011 Group Picture

Students will develop skills, techniques, critical thinking, creative problem solving, & conceptual concerns through the use of a wide range of materials & resources. A broad perspective on art history & culture are woven together & includes frequent gallery & art studio visits, with a rare opportunity of exposure to an entire arts district.

Cooperation, collaboration, accountability, & focus are all considered.

For three of our five weeks of camp, we are teaming up once again with Water St. Glassworks. They will provide our students with a plethora of glass knowledge from mosaic to sand blasting & more.

Camp I, will focus on Little Italy. Exploring painting, ceramics, sculpture, as well as some simple Italian phrases. All of this camp takes place at ARS gallery
(children do not leave the building).

Camp II, Camp IV, & Camp V are the weeks we work with WSGW. Camps II, & V for ages 7-12, we will focus on Italy, (think mosaic, ceramic, relief, & painting) traveling from ARS Gallery to Water Street. Camp IV, will be for ages 13-17, and will be an “Intensive Studio Art” week that explores what art can be by pushing forward and developing your own style. This group will also traveling to Water Street.

Camp III will be the week of July 18-22, will focus on Film Studies. Students will create a story, beginning, middle & end, as well as directing, editing, & create stage design in this serious yet fun film camp.
